Daily Actions

“It’s important to take action.” One of the most overused, yet one of the most truthful phrases. A dream isn’t the deal-breaker; it’s the power to make it happen. This power is none other than action itself.

Ok, so let’s get to the point. You might be wondering, “well, yes, I know that I need to work to hold success, but what is the most effective way to get there?”

The simple answer to this question is micro-goals.

Importance of Micro-Goals

There are several ways to approach a long-term goal, but effective ones involve a proper plan with smaller ones. Micro-goals are daily steps that you take to achieve your overall goal. For example, you might be a libero in volleyball and want to improve your reflex actions.

In order to do that, you would probably have to create smaller goals like practicing receives one day and analyzing techniques the other day. When you are able to accomplish these smaller goals you are directly achieving your long-term goal.

Think of it this way, micro-goals are like the Lego blocks to your finished masterpiece. With each one accomplished, another piece is added to your structure.

How To Set Up Micro-Goals

In order to know what micro-goals you need, you need to be familiar with your main objective. Yes, I know that you all most likely know what your goal is, but you need to understand it with depth so you know exactly what you want.

Once you know your aim in detail, you need to list down all the resources you need for the goal. In other words, think like a beginner. Think of what you would need if you started all the way from square one.

You can also look at how others, who shared your same goal, were able to do it. You’ll have more exposure to the different routes you can take this way.

With everything gathered, create small, daily goals to fully use all the resources you have. For more assistance, you can use this planning sheet:

Remember that you can do it, you just need to plan out properly and create tiny goals so you can focus on everything one at a time. Good luck!
