Twenty Five Twenty One Review: Dash and Raven

There have been so many amazing k-dramas released recently and one of our favorites is Twenty One Twenty Five starring Kim Taeri as Na Heedo and Nam Joo-Hyuk as Baek Yijin. When there is an IMF financial crisis, the fencing club in Heedo’s school shuts down. Determined to continue following her fencing dreams, she transfers to another school where her idol, Ko Yurim is training. The show is filled with competition, friendships, inspiration, comedy, etc. that makes each moment memorable.

We included some inspirational quotes from the show that covers a package of backgrounds (It’ll be split into the spoiler section and the non-spoiler section):

Non-spoiler section:

“Your skills don’t improve consistently but in steps.” – (Mrs. Kim, Twenty One Twenty Five). This along with many other quotes makes Twenty One Twenty Five stand apart from other k-dramas. It emphasizes how important it is to not give up on something even if you fail multiple times. If you are passionate about what you do, then you should continue trying. After all, failing is how you learn and how you improve your skills, so let’s all be more patient with ourselves and continue reaching for the stars.

“Why do you root for me? Even my mom doesn’t.” – Na Heedo

“Because you give me hope. And I want more for you. And it makes me want to do well, too.” – Baek Yijin

Sometimes the times don't support us and even the people we are close to give up on us, but your opinion is what matters to go through this. There will be people in the future that will look up to your persistence, people you will meet that will support you to not give up, and people that will also be there to inspire you. Don’t let the present influence your decisions, don’t quit.

In Twenty Five Twenty One, the times don’t favor Na Heedo and neither do those around her, but she meets new people through her journey of not giving up, and she now has many people that support her.

We might feel alone, but there are future friends that will feel inspired and also motivate you to continue your dreams. The times might be like this now, but it will also be your best friend in the future. Everything happens for a reason. Be optimistic. Pop on some positive glasses, look through a positive lens! :)

Spoiler Section:

Baek Yijin and Na Heedo are the stars of Twenty One Twenty Five and definitely one of our favorite relationships from the show, but we can’t forget some of the other wonderful friendships as well. For example, Yurim and Heedo, their relationship changed dramatically after finding out about their internet identities. They had started out as enemies as Yurim felt jealous of Heedo, but both girls grew past numerous misunderstandings and finally became close friends. They were so supportive of each other after that and made sure to look out for each other in the competitive world of fencing.

“I’m positive that I’ve worked the hardest out of all the fencers here. That’s why it’s only natural that I win. Today, I will join the national team.” – Na Heedo

It’s easy to fall flat to the ground. It’s not because of competition, it’s not because someone is better than you, and it certainly is not because you don’t have luck. Easier said than done, it’s a sense of faith. Although practice adds to your success, without confidence, you’ve confirmed to yourself that you will trip, irrespective of your skillset. Na Heedo demonstrates this positive mindset. Although she has practiced a lot, what makes her not give up, what makes her not distracted, and what makes her motivated is her confidence and her passion for fencing. When Heedo tries out for the national team, an opponent fencer purposefully tries to frustrate her so Heedo can lose her focus. However, Heedo doesn’t let that waiver her determination, and makes it to the national team.
