“Just give up now. You’re not talented enough.” These negative words stand in front of us, challenging our ability to reach for our dreams. Even the most successful of people had to overcome naysayers at some point.(Ex: Priyanka Yoshikawa, Jason Kilar, Maxine Clark, etc.) Discouragement can come from many unexpected places, even from within. For example,a part of you might feel scared of failure or not so confident about your skill set.

In this case, you can tell yourself empowering words and even write them down to stick up on your wall. Seeing them as you work will remind you what you are capable of and keep you motivated. Also, try to surround yourself with positive and ambitious people.Their energy is as contagious as genuine laughter.

In some cases, it can be other people who try to bring you down. Their actions may come out of jealousy, opinion, or even just spite. No matter what the reason is, it’s not worth putting a pause on your journey to success. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said “Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you’ll be criticized anyway.”
