Dream Week: Shared Entry

These days, more and more people turn to YouTube channels to get a boost of productivity and energy. For example, there are videos about people waking up at 5am to work, writing aesthetic notes, and making healthy food. Usually, these leave us craving for that kind of lifestyle in our lives. So why not try it for a week?

During these times, trying new things and adopting better habits are very important. You can make the time to try what you see on videos for one full week, your Dream Week. Throughout your dream week, live your life exactly as you want to, whether you need to get things done, try a new hobby, practice self-care, or even all of the above.

The chains in the background represent goals that have been locked up, or in other words, never accomplished.

Sometimes, we are too consumed by distractions that we tend to forget that we can make productive use of the time wasted. Dream Week is the week for you to practice sticking with your goals that you’ve never really put time into or accomplished. It’s a week to understand where you stand in terms of willfulness, and how you function. With this, you can understand more of yourself and develop, eventually, self-awareness and confidence.

Before you start your Dream Week, here are some vital things to do:

1. Make a realistic plan

  • amount of time you have

  • amount of chill days you need

  • note any important events happening that week

2. Prepare the week before

  • Plan beforehand if you are doing something new(ex: sleep earlier to wake up early, pick out what workouts you want to do)

  • Pick a few days to test out your dream routine to see if changes need to be made

3. Find some motivating factors

  • Write down short-term and long-term successes you will have because of Dream Week

  • A positive mindset is everything

  • Watch some Youtube videos that are related to your goals, it would help even more if it shows the results (ex: studying to get into a top-tier college, drawing everyday and becoming a popular Youtube artist, etc.)

All of these will help make your Dream Week activities more successful and consistent.

To get you started, this is what our dream weeks would look like.

Raven:

My Dream Week goals would be to be productive and have time to do things I love. The main thing though would be to keep it realistic and motivated throughout. Some ways I would do this is by putting on some fun music, making a to-do list on my Notion, and taking breaks a little differently. I would take breaks based on task completion, for example, I could take a 15 minute break for every task I complete. This works better for me than other techniques. Also, I would wake up earlier so that I can spend some time doing things I love such as reading, dancing, and writing for Mental Routeen.

Dash:

There are many goals that I have still yet to accomplish and a typical week for me is compacted with work and tight schedules, so I never have the chance to set aside time to focus on intrinsic goals. This is exactly why Dream Weeks are important for me because they motivate me to forcefully set time aside and realize that there are many unnecessary distractions that stop me from reaching my fullest potential.

For my future Dream Week goals, it all comes down to a common purpose: to be more productive. I want to be able to keep electronic devices away for a couple of hours to prevent binge watching and other useless news feeds, try to catch more rest (technically, this doesn’t count as being productive, but it is also a goal that’s valuable to me), and to overcome the obstacle of stress by removing stressors by using coping strategies.

These are common and general goals that probably everyone has, but these are also goals that I’d like to accomplish personally. Whether it be common or not, you have advantage to use Dream Week or any week in general to fixate on the idea of accomplishing a goal. Just try it out and see where it takes you!
